The Birth of The Wonky Sprue
Every hobbyist has that moment where things click—the instant you realize the way you work, build, paint, and experiment is uniquely yours. For me, that moment sparked the creation of The Wonky Sprue.
The name came naturally. My projects rarely follow straight lines or perfect plans. They twist, wobble, and wander just like a truly “wonky” sprue fresh out of the box. But that’s the joy of the hobby: embracing imperfections, building character, and discovering style through experimentation. It only felt right to give that philosophy a home, and so The Wonky Sprue was born.
A New Beginning on a New Workbench
Starting this blog felt like the perfect opportunity to take another step I’d been putting off for far too long—moving to my new workbench. My old space had served me well, but a fresh creative chapter deserves a fresh workspace. The smell of new wood, the clean surface, the reorganized paints… it all felt like hitting the reset button on my hobby energy.
This new bench is where future conversions, experiments, mistakes, triumphs, and undoubtedly more wonky sprues will be crafted. It’s already beginning to feel like home.
Enter: The Wonky Sprue YouTube Channel
Alongside the blog, I’ve also set up The Wonky Sprue YouTube channel. It’s empty for now—no fancy intro, no paint-along videos, no kitbashing chaos just yet—but that’s all about to change. I’ll start recording soon, sharing builds, tips, lessons learned, and maybe even a few disasters for entertainment value.
My goal isn’t perfection; it’s honesty, creativity, and an open invitation to enjoy the process with me.
What’s Next?
Soon you’ll see posts, videos, and project updates as I settle in and start creating again. Whether you’re here for painting chats, kitbash ideas, or just the comfort of another hobbyist doing delightfully imperfect things, welcome. I’m excited to build this space—and this community—one sprue at a time.
Here’s to new beginnings, new workbenches, and the charming chaos of The Wonky Sprue.
